Just a bunch of useless info that doesn't help in any substantial way. Plus it uses up server resources to store them in a separate category like that and to recall it.

In WoW - your items define you.

If two people fight, their class and their gear determines the outcome. The armory is basically an index that says who your character can defeat, and who they can't.

How exactly does any of that information prove how able and skilled a player is?

You cant judge a persons ability by ther titles, number of skills, completition of a campaign etc etc!

Have you not considered this will just incourage the l33t atittudes we already have ingame. "You dont have all the monk elite skills, so your not joining my PUG"!! "You havent done this, or that, or got 100% so you cant join us"!!

And that would happen!

/not signed

The information you need to know is whether a person has max gear and their skilll set. But even that doesnt mean anything everytime.

actually really like this idea...if its account based PvP...would stop players from bluffing their way into certain guilds by saying got complete UAX on skills when really they don't

Who cares if they have all skills? I'd rather take a good player that's not UAX than a shitty player that's UAX. Plus you can always kick him after finding out he's lying or sucking.

Exactly. That's why I said it wouldn't work in GW. Many people who play WoW and come onto GW argue that gear isn't a factor, when in reality it is. Good example is in WoW's low tier Battlegrounds people often "twink" their characters to gain a competative edge in PvP. These twinks are the max level of the Battlegrounds tier (ie: 10-19), and have rare weapons/armor, and enchants that basically make them have the stats of a higher level character.

Since Guild Wars is suppossed to be skill > gear, having an index of what a person has is really useless, and in no way would be a measure of, as the thread title says, "how good you are".

I don't want other people to see my skill schemes etc.

If they want to see something, they can come and see my HoM.

/not signed, I don't want other players checking it out and eventually discerning a weakness, they have to do that the old fashioned way (by fighting me)

Ok...My stance has changed somewhat from my earlier reply. I'd be behind this if you have the option to hide your info. Otherwise, its an invasion of privacy.

Result of hiding information = "You have your info hidden, your not joining us unless we can see it....ragh ragh ragh"!

Being able to hide info wouldnt solve anything.

any guild that tried that on me would get a smug laugh with a mention that "You don't deserve a player like me so who cares, I was only looking into joining yours, next time you start begging me to join you'll need to get on your hands and knees". Most guilds who use that tactic will probably get something similair and will then lose a lot of their bargaining position when accepting new members or crawling on their knees to players formerly considered for membership.

Put simply for the people with short attention spans (aka all americans and me), if a guild tried that on people, they'd lose prospective members for a rather long time unless they started begging and offering money to join.

Hm... as long as it has a new tab in the options dialog, with ALL options disabled by default.

Then let people show who can se what:
- Account Name
- Model (to see model with hi-res textures even in outposts)
- Equipment: None, Anyone, Party, Friends, Allies, Guild,
- Stats
- Skills
- Current build
- Titles.
- Account info (such as tournament points and PvP classification)

Etc...

Then when your 'ID card' is requested by a character, only those things you have allowed would be shown.
If you don't allow inventory or equipment, they can't see your 'rag doll'.
If you don't allow titles, they can only see your current shown inventory.

Etc...

Of course, there should be limit of requests people can make, or this would be a lagfest.
